Hello Don and Steph,

Per our conversation about us and the Knights of Ni, it's best to google Monty Python's "Knights who say ni," and watch, for a smile ...

Getting the beach ball on my laptop .... is it time for a new hard drive I wonder? .... hope my backup is in good condition ... old computer here.

Friendly regards,
Scott

Hi Don and Steph,

My computer seems to be working, after all, after 2 reboots, at least for the moment ... curious ... and I just now made another successful backup ... but for how long ...?

Thought there were 3 knights of ni, but there are indeed many, and they don't like the word 'it' either :)

Don and Steph,

My hard drive does indeed appear to have died, and I was able to make a good backup an hour ago, and I have a number of old hard drives to help select the model number of a new replacement HD thankfully.

What I'll call your 'prescience' (so it seems to me), Steph, is fascinating (I realize it's you who are replacing your hard drive, - but it's something about the cultural communication and the parallel processes).

A tour of Quaker high schools back east, and others, just before or after students have heard from colleges around March or April to let them know of free (since CC) and MIT-centric World University and School? Perhaps ... just an innovative, Friendly leading ... which can help a lot of people.

Friendly regards,
Scott

Don and Steph and M,

Update out of the blue ... just installed the hard drive myself at well known Fry's Electronics itself, which I also purchased at Fry's, and am now near at the new, gand, Palo Alto Apple Store for a new battery, and they'll put on my old operating system quickly, as well. Their diagnostic after my installation showed that this third hard drive in this laptop went in well (I'm a heavy user). Glad I have a good backup as of yesterday afternoon in Time Machine  ... should be up and running with everything this evening

Stanford talk with anthropology graduate student, Hilary Chart, was good, too ... her field site is in Botswana ... and here's the beginning of a WUaS university in Botswana ... http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Botswana .... and her Stanford talk info + is on the WUaS Botswana page.

(And here's the Tswana language page ... http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/Tswana ...

And here's the Entrepreneurship, wiki page ...

MIT OCW's Sloan School of Business, which you'll find on the Entrepreneurship page, will potentially help so many ...).

Yea ... off to give a piping lesson soon .. then piano, probably reading music off my 3.5 inch screen smartphone :)

Hi M,

$54 for new, 320 Gigabyte hard drive, which I installed

$140 for new battery (including labor and taxes) for a 5 year old MacBook Pro, which Apple's diagnostic said last December and today I needed, and they also quickly put on my operating system ...

Now I'm transferring everything smootlhy with Apple's Time Machine backup system and my computer says that will be done in 25 mins :)

Scott

thanks for the python links

Don and Steph,

was confusing "The Knights Who Say Ni" with the Three-Headed Giant in "The Tale of Sir Robin," all in 'Monty Python and the Holy Grail' and here ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4SJ0xR2_bQ ... :) ... must see this old film again ... pretty, sophisticated, ironic, spoofing-the-medieval language, with absurdisms-abounding, especially for we young Ffriends ...  :)
