Lotus flower in garlands: what CC WUaS donated to CC Wikidata, 720 Wikia wiki pages in English which make up the plans and templates for online CC universities and schools, planned in a) all 7,938+ languages, each a wiki page/school for open teaching and learning to begin, and especially for b) online universities planned in ~200 countries' main languages, and ACCREDITING (which WUaS plans to do) on CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC. Best to glance at the ~10 main areas that WUaS donated here - from "Languages, Nation States ... Libraries, Museums ... to Research" to get an idea of how inter-lingual databases will emerge, Accreditation in California, WSJ "Online Skills Are Hot, But Will They Land You a Job?

Hi Romaine (and Gerard),

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better, Romaine, and thanks for looking into my e-mail and WUaS's donation to Wikidata.

In some ways, what WUaS donated is 720 Wikia wiki pages in English which make up the plans and templates for online CC universities and schools, planned in a) all 7,938+ languages, each a wiki page/school for open teaching and learning to begin, and especially for b) online universities planned in ~200 countries' main languages, and ACCREDITING (which WUaS plans to do) on CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC. Best to glance at the ~10 main areas that WUaS donated here - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/ - from "Languages, Nation States ... Libraries, Museums ...  to Research" to get an idea of how inter-lingual databases will emerge from these pages, templates and plans. WUaS thus plans to offer online, free, CC, Bachelor, Ph.D., Law, M.D. and I.B. (high school) diplomas in most countries' main languages, while facilitating open wiki schools in 8K languages where you or anyone can teach to your web camera or otherwise creatively, or learn toward a free STEM-centric degree, building to begin in WUaS MediaWiki and Wikidata/Wikibase.

By extension and because we're all CC, CC WUaS also donated CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and CC Yale OYC to CC Wikidata, at least to work with, so part of the accreditation process on both the front end and the data back end side, will include developing CC MIT OCW for credit as WUaS courses toward WUaS degrees, planned in many countries, each an online university in their main language.  WUaS seeks to begin doing this with 3 languages, as a kind of pilot project, say English, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, since they are in MIT OCW, are UN languages, are huge languages, and are of course Wikipedia languages too. But it may be easier to do this with all countries' main languages, since Wikipedia/Wikidata is likely in all of these languages anyway.

Here is an archive.org version of World University and School MediaWiki - https://web.archive.org/web/20150324001526/http://worlduniversityandschool.org/mediawiki-1.24.1/index.php?title=Main_Page - which I created this spring to give you an idea where I'm heading with it ... and which would eventually be coded with Wikidata and machine learning (in SPARQL and OWL), and in all languages. And here is the installed WUaS MediaWiki main page - http://worlduniversityandschool.org/mediawiki-1.24.1/index.php?title=Main_Page - but which is buggy and turned off because it was spewing emails, for one. (I can share the password information with you). Since I've developed most of the past 720 pages, and in a previous WUaS wiki as well, and the current Wikia wiki is mostly locked, I'm also interested in getting back to developing newly in WUaS MediaWiki and with Wikidata for multi-linguality. As a first question, could you possibly please get WUaS MediaWiki up and working again?

I was glad to read the following just today from Lydia that MediaWiki itself will be able to access Wikidata on Dec 2. Could we possibly please develop a further plan for getting WUaS up and running in both WUaS MediaWiki and Wikidata and make this public then on December 2nd, basically building out from this SUBJECT_TEMPLATE -  http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/SUBJECT_TEMPLATE - which inform nearly all of the 720 WUaS Wikia wiki pages, and adding and building in databases in the appropriate sections on this page?

WUaS  also seeks to have interns beginning to develop WUaS in January 2016 (eg developing the law schools in different languages, etc.).

The link to the plan I wrote at Lydia's suggestion is below, if that's helpful, and I may seek to develop it further, if people start engaging it.

I also post much to my blog about this under the wiki -

WUaS seeks to become the Harvard of the Internet, and again in all languages as schools and in all countries's main languages as universities, and of course as a huge RESEARCH university, and as wiki.

Thank you.

Best regards,
Scott

I'm emailing to inquire whether you, as a core developer group (and perhaps even developing a face-to-face monthly business meeting process amongst yourselves to reach consensus re WUaS's), could possibly please take the (initial) lead and help me to develop this World University and School (WUaS) plan (and templates) - https://docs.google.com/document/d/1n02XHzbTE8rY14p-ei6WSNtCQZ8AYscgwI6ncMXolpo/edit?usp=sharing (which Lydia suggested I write) - in Wikidata (which CC WUaS donated to CC Wikidata for its third birthday) - and inter-lingually? Thank you.

Hi Drew (Amerson),

Good morning. It was very nice to meet and talk with you yesterday evening at the UC Hastings' Law event in the Sky room at 100 McAllister Street.

Thanks too for your interest in World University and School. There are many potential innovative academic legal projects at WUaS. For example, WUaS would like to develop online Law Schools - http://worlduniversity.wikia.com/wiki/World_University_Law_School - in many countries' main languages (see a few of these beginning schools in other countries part way down), and UC Hastings Law students could conceivably eventually teach in them online, for example, as graduate student instructors in Google group video Hangouts.

It would be great too to continue our conversation and explore collaborating in other ways as well. Thank you, Drew, and great to meet you.

Best regards,
Scott

Hi Drew,

Thanks for your email and likewise. You have quite a team at the UC Hastings' Institute for Innovation Law - http://innovation.uchastings.edu/about/people/staff/

We just donated CC WUaS to CC Wikidata/Wikibase, Wikipedia's 3 year old interlingual database for its now ~ 300 languages, and I'm hoping we'll be able to begin working with interns in this new World University and School wiki with database and machine learning in January 2016.

In addition to being incorporated as a 501(c)(3), WUaS also has a Creative Commons' licensed core, which allows a) CC WUaS which is planning online universities in all 200 countries' main languages and wiki schools in all 7,938+ languages, and b) CC Wikidata/Wikipedia, and c) CC MIT OCW in 7 languages and d) CC Yale OYC to share resources, and this CC core is central to our business plan - http://worlduniversityandschool.blogspot.com/2015/09/wuass-business-model-update-creative.html. So of the nine planned revenue streams, part way down here, the first four would involve this CC core, and the 5 remaining ones plus others (e.g. online hospitals), could possibly be more commercially oriented in one way or another (e.g. a) bookstore/computer store, b) academic press and c) manpower/language power source in all 7,938 + languages, among others), but all of which is unfolding. Creative Commons' licensing is thus also potentially a pretty great "moat" for a startup university to have as well, and we're planning to work with the University of California in a variety of ways (e.g. WUaS will be a real entrepreneurial client in UC Berkeley Boalt Law Professor Will Kell's course "New Business Practicum" beginning in Feb 2016).

In particular in these regards, it's the new WASC senior incubation policy, allowing startup universities to be accredited by established universities, that makes possible some far-reaching academic entrepreneurial opportunities. In particular, UC Hastings' Law Professor Emeritus Bill Wang has kept me/WUaS informed about some of the recent developments with WASC and BPPE (Bureau of Private Post-secondary Education in the state of California), and WASC also I think accredits UC Hastings' Law. WUaS will seek, for example, some portion of the $44,000/year tuition it costs to go to Stanford or MIT from governments (local and national) around the world for our matriculated students for free, CC, and MIT OCW-centric Bachelor, Ph.D. Law, MD and I.B. high school degrees. For example, in 2017 WUaS might have 100 undergraduate students online in their high school rooms from India and 50 students from Brazil, and 1850 from other countries, first in English, and seek funding from all of their governments. Accreditation will thus be remunerative to the incubating university (which could be an University of California) as well as to WUaS. So although, you don't typically work with non-profits, WUaS hopes both CC and WASC accreditation, first in English in California, will be very remunerative to the participating schools and organizations.

I certainly will keep your Hastings' Law Innovation Law Institute resource in mind if I hear of for-profit startups needing legal services, but please, too, consider the possible opportunities (WUaS is planning degrees in all countries' main languages, all of which will involve accreditation) in working with WUaS.

WUaS seeks to become the Harvard of the Internet, and again in all 7938 languages as wiki schools and in all ~200 countries's main languages as universities, and of course as a huge RESEARCH university.

Looking forward to further communication in these and other innovation regards.

All the best to you and to the Institute for Innovation Law in your endeavors,
Scott

Dear Bill (Wang),

Thank you for this interesting "Online Skills Are Hot, But Will They Land You a Job? Employers don’t recognize companies that offer many of these courses, so these credentials don’t carry much weight" (http://www.wsj.com/articles/online-skills-are-hot-but-will-they-land-you-a-job-1447806460) WSJ article.

WUaS hopes to create nearly 1 million academic jobs as an organization, and will also plan, in the CC MIT STEM-centric degrees we offer, for careers both within WUaS and in all 7,938 languages, as well as in developing relationships with companies in all countries, as do, for example, MIT and Stanford in this country, and based on the accredited degrees of this universities – and their reputation and success in attracting highest achieving students. So WUaS’s plans to accredit with WASC senior will be significant with regard to this article and our online educational plans.

And WUaS as wiki will create open-ended teaching and learning opportunities in these regards, especially for entrepreneurs, for example, and again in all countries’ main languages.

Thank you.

Best,
Scott
