Hi Shahrzad,

Welcome back to Berkeley if you've returned. Where and how are you?

How was your time in Iran? How is your field work going?

I enjoyed seeing some of Nouredin Zarrinkelk's animation films at
Stanford last night (https://events.stanford.edu/events/651/65113/)
and hearing him talk too, although I didn't understand a word of the
Persian, wishing a WUaS universal translator on my phone worked; I
even held up my phone to see if it would translate on the fly with
Google Voice but with no luck, and also opened Google Translate, and
typed in "music" to translate from English to Persian, and saw the
Persian script ... but couldn't yet understand a word of Nouredin's
talk nevertheless :).

These are some of his films he showed more or less in this order:

Animation - پدر انیمشن ایرانی‌ زرین کلک - Zarin Kelk - Amir Hamzeh

(And here's a brief biography -
Zarrinkelk's Early Career
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XV-wBeBdFRg - which I just found).

How's your dissertation going?

Glad to have published my Harbin book (http://bit.ly/HarbinBook), and that World University and
School is coming along, but not yet with very much in other languages
!
