Snow: 'Society' back east, Civil?, MIT Media Lab faculty job?, In what ways could A) World University and School and the B) WUaS Corporation become two of the smartest companies on the Tech Review list - and by hiring MIT graduate students - in 2018?

'Society' back east, in western Pennsylvania, in Pittsburgh (compared with California)?

Civil? The weather has been keeping everyone in. It's cold here, and there's been snow.

And sociality is more organized in my mother's sphere.

But even to conceive of a concept of society is very "sociological" or "social theory" - informed by my questioning this, and from the 1960's forward, and now informed by information technology and the network society.

Here's a definition of 'society" I used in my course this autumn:

"Some further definitions re - Society, Information Technology, and the Global University ... http://worlduniversityandschool.org/InfoTechNetworkSocGlobalUniv.html -

... While society can mean - "the aggregate of people living together in a more or less ordered community" - for Castells it further refers to "social, political, economic and cultural changes caused by the spread of networked, digital information and communications technologies," with intellectual origins for Castells going back to "social theorists such as Georg Simmel who analyzed the effect of modernization and industrial capitalism on complex patterns of affiliation, organization, production and experience" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Network_society)."
